The NIR, or nominal interest rate, indicates the yield of the Interest-Bearing Deposit. The AER, or annual equivalent rate, is calculated based on the cost and yield of your money.
In the Interest-Bearing Deposit, some of the eligible products have a cost associated with them. For example, if you have MyBox Retirement, this product has a minimum annual cost of €132. This is why, depending on what you pay for the eligible products, the NIR and AER may not match.
As a representative example: suppose you open a 12-month Interest-Bearing Deposit with a contribution of €20,000. If you also have MyBox Retirement, at a cost of €132/year, you will get an NIR of 1% (0.75% for the deposit + 0.25% for having MyBox Retirement) and 0.34% AER.
