Safety comes first

The European Payment Services Directive (PSD2) improves the security of online purchases. For this reason, they must be authorised through CaixaBankNow digital banking (the CaixaBank app or website). This option affects all cards, including any cards you have granted to other beneficiaries (for example, a child).

You will continue to make purchases as you have done in the past, by entering your card details in the e-commerce store. When you have completed this step, you will have to authorise the purchase via CaixaBankNow online banking: you can do this from your phone using the CaixaBankNow application or from your computer via the CaixaBankNow website.

If CaixaBank card holders do not remember their CaixaBankNow digital banking access codes, they can recover them here.

To be CaixaBankNow digital banking users, card holders must be registered as CaixaBank customers. If they are not, they must go to a CaixaBank branch to record their details (if the cardholder is a minor, they must be accompanied by the contract holder).

How to authorise your purchases using the CaixaBankNow app:

1. When making an online purchase, the card holder will receive a notification in the CaixaBankNow mobile app.

2. The user must access the CaixaBankNow app with their user or biometric credentials. When entering the app, a screen will appear with the button "Authoriser".

3. The user needs to verify the details and authorise the purchase. The button will be available for 7 minutes. The user can also cancel the transaction.

The cardholder can also authorise purchases via the CaixaBankNow website, but will not receive a notification on their phone.

Steps to authorise purchases from the computer through the CaixaBankNow website:

1. The holder of the CaixaBank card makes a purchase online.

2. They can access CaixaBankNow online banking at www.caixabank.es from a computer with their user or biometric credentials. When entering the app, a screen will appear with the button "Authorise".

3. The user needs to verify the details and authorise the purchase. The button will be available for 7 minutes. The user can also cancel the transaction.
