This revolutionary service means individuals can make payments to each other instantly using nothing but their mobile phones. No top-ups required and it's completely secure.
The Bizum system is not a stand-alone app; it's part of the CaixaBankNow app.
If you want to send and receive money, you need to register first on the Bizum system through the CaixaBankNow app.
1. Download the CaixaBank app from the Google or Apple stores (compatible with iOS and Android 5.0 or later).
2. Go to "Carry out transaction" and select the option "Use Bizum". If you haven't registered yet, you can do so quickly in two simple steps. You will be asked for authentication using your coordinates card or the CaixaBank Sign app.
3. Select the transaction you want to carry out in "Send or request money" and select or enter the recipient's contact number.
4. Enter the amount you want to send and select the account from which you will send it.
5. Finally, enter the description and confirm the transaction.
6. If the recipient is registered, they'll receive the money or request instantly. If not, you can send them an SMS notification to register.
7. If the recipient registers within 48 hours, the money will be sent instantly (it will never be blocked before the recipient registers).
To guarantee the service is secure, a number of transaction and amount limits between individuals are in place. You can send from €0.50 up to a maximum of €500 per transaction, with a limit of €2,000 per day, and taking into account that you can't exceed a total monthly limit of €5,000. In addition, you can receive up to 60 transactions in a month, for a maximum of €1,000 per transaction received, and a daily total amount of up to €2,000 per NIF.
You can make purchases of up to €1,500 per operation and day. The maximum weekly and monthly cumulative amount is €4,000.
With Bizum you can pay for bets for up to €500/transaction.
Due to current legislation, you can only collect prizes of up to €2,000 with Bizum.
With Bizum you can send, request and receive payments from your mobile phone in a quick, easy and completely secure way. You don't need to know the recipient's account number - you can just use their phone number.
The service works through Bizum, a system that's compatible with most other Spanish banks and which connects customers' bank accounts linked to their mobile phone number (you don't need to know any IBAN numbers to send money).
- Immediacy: customers can send money from their phone any time, anywhere, and payments are made between customers' accounts the moment they're authorised.
- Universality: this service is provided by the main banks in Spain, so you can send money to any individual that is a customer of a bank compatible with Bizum.
- Usability: it is very easy to use - everything is linked to phone numbers, so you just use your contacts.
- Security: the customer generates and confirms the payments using their coordinates card or CaixaBank Sign app.
Any customers of legal age who have a bank account (IBAN) in Spain and a mobile phone number. You need to register with the Bizum service via CaixaBankNow to link your regular bank account to your mobile phone number.
To send or request money to or from a phone number, users need to hold a bank account in a bank linked with Bizum. Over 95% of banks work with Bizum. Check which banks at www.bizum.es/entidades.

The CaixaBankNow app service Bizum is an INSTANT payment solution (with money being available in your account immediately, 24/7, 365 days a year), it's UNIVERSAL (connected with almost all Spanish banks), and it's INTEGRATED (it's not a stand-alone app, it's integrated with each bank's app).
The service is currently free of charge.
To receive a payment instantly, you need to have registered in the Bizum system beforehand.
If the recipient is not registered, Bizum will send them a text message informing them that someone wishes to send them money and telling them to go to their bank to obtain the money. The recipient has 2 business days to register with Bizum through their bank. When they register, they will receive the funds immediately. If they do not register within this period, the transfer will be cancelled.
The money is not withheld and no charge is made until the recipient has registered.
To cancel or change any of your details, you need to open the CaixaBankNow app and go to the option "Bizum" > "Register" / "My profile" (once you have registered).
Yes, you need to have an account with CaixaBank. However, you don't need to open a new account, you just link the service to your regular account.
There may be a marker on the account you have registered with Bizum that is blocking the transaction to receive money, because not all the details in the KYC form required by regulations have been filled in. You can manage everything related to this marker and the processes required to unblock it in branch.
Before sending a payment to a friend, you'll be shown the recipient's details. This way you can check you've selected the right recipient.
If you accidentally send money to the wrong person, you need to contact CaixaBank to give your reason for the payment being reversed.

If the service is available, you'll see a Bizum icon in the shopping basket. When you confirm the payment method, the shop will request the phone number of the customer registered on Bizum.
You will receive a push notification, which, when opened, will redirect you to CaixaBankNow to authenticate your purchase, just like when you use a card at an online store.
Access CaixaBankNow with your credentials and go to the "Pending requests" menu in the Bizum section. You will see the list of operations pending authentication. Select the purchase in order to confirm or cancel it. Sometimes, you will need to sign the operation with CaixaBank Sign.
The customer should contact the company directly. If they are unable to contact them, they need to ask to initiate a commercial dispute. They can do it directly, by sending an email to [email protected], or by calling 93 887 25 25 or 900 40 40 90. These channels can also be accessed from any branch if a commercial dispute needs to be initiated.
Now, with Bizum, you can pay for your bets and collect your prizes by presenting the QR code at Loterías y Apuestas del Estado establishments.
Log in to your CaixaBankNow app, go to the Bizum section and select "Bizum QR". A QR code will be generated, which you must show to the Loterías y Apuestas del Estado seller.
You will have to go to the pending transactions section in your CaixaBankNow app to confirm the request.
Remember that each QR has a 5-minute expiration date and is valid for a single transaction.
